About
Bespoke Metalwork, Made for Your Property
Who We Are
A workshop, not a call centre
Black Heath Metalworks makes bespoke gates, railings, balustrades and architectural metalwork for properties across London — one job at a time, made for the building it goes on.
Most of what we make replaces something that never fitted properly in the first place: a stock gate cut down to an opening it was never designed for, a railing that steps awkwardly down a sloping wall, a balustrade that meets the regulations but not the staircase. Making things to measure removes that problem at the start rather than working around it at the end.
We handle the whole job — measuring, design, fabrication and installation. There is no separate fitter to arrange and no gap in responsibility between the making and the fitting. You deal with the people doing the work.
We work for homeowners and landlords as much as for developers, property managers, builders and contractors, and the approach is the same either way: work out what is actually needed, say clearly what it will cost, then make it properly.
What we do not do
We do not offer repairs, emergency call-outs or same-day welding. Every project we take on is new metalwork, designed and made for a specific property. If you need a repair, we are not the right people — and we would rather say so than take the job.
The Detail
How we work
Small decisions, made properly, are what separate bespoke metalwork from something cut down to fit.
- Measuring
- Every job is measured on site. Openings are rarely square and ground is rarely level — the metalwork is set out to what is actually there.
- Fabrication
- Frames are jigged and welds dressed back before finishing, so joints read as continuous lines rather than visible seams.
- Finishing
- External work is hot dip galvanised before powder coating. It costs more up front and lasts considerably longer on a London frontage.
- Installation
- Fitted by the people who made it, and adjusted on site until gaps, drops and levels are consistent.
- Communication
- Straightforward answers, including when something in a design will not work.
- Coverage
- London and approximately 20 miles around London.
