Bespoke steel front garden railings installed along a London property boundary wall

02 — Metal Railings

Bespoke Metal Railings in London

Front garden railings, boundary railings, balustrades and handrails — made to measure for residential and commercial properties across London.

Railing Types

Railings we make

Made to the measured run, not assembled from stock panels — which is why they sit correctly on walls that are neither straight nor level.

  • 01

    Front Garden Railings

The classic London frontage: a low wall with a railing above it, set out so the panels follow the fall of the pavement rather than stepping down it.

  • 02

    Boundary Railings

Longer runs marking a boundary line, on walls or set into the ground, with posts and bays sized to the site.

  • 03

    Balcony Railings

Replacement or new railings for balconies and terraces, brought up to current height requirements without overwhelming a period elevation.

  • 04

    Commercial Railings

Railings for flats, developments, schools and commercial frontages, working to a specification or a drawing where one exists.

03 — Balustrades & Handrails

Balustrades & handrails

Made-to-measure architectural metalwork for stairs, balconies and entrances — set out to meet Building Regulations as standard.

  • 05

    Staircase Balustrades

Raking balustrades templated from the finished staircase, so the line of the handrail is continuous from bottom newel to landing return.

  • 06

    Balcony & Landing Balustrades

Steel, or steel with glass infill, set out to the heights and gap limits in Building Regulations Part K.

  • 07

    Handrails

Wall-mounted and free-standing handrails for entrance steps, internal flights and access routes.

Materials & Finishes

Finished for the position they sit in

External railings on a road-facing boundary are galvanised before they are coated. Internal balustrades are treated differently — the specification follows the job.

FAQ

Metal railings — common questions

Matching a period style, fixing to an existing wall, and what the regulations require.

Can you match railings to an existing period style?

Yes. Send photographs of the existing railings or of a neighbouring property and we can work to a matching or complementary design.

Do balustrades need to meet Building Regulations?

Balustrades and handrails on stairs, landings and balconies are covered by Building Regulations, including minimum heights and maximum gaps. We set our work out to those requirements as standard.

Can railings be fitted to an existing wall?

Usually. Railings can be core-drilled or resin-fixed into a wall capping, or fixed to a face with base plates. The right method depends on the wall, which is confirmed at the measuring stage.

What finishes are available?

Most external railings are hot dip galvanised and then powder coated, which gives a durable finish suited to a London frontage. Internal work is typically powder coated. Colour is your choice.

Do you make railings for commercial properties?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, developers, property managers, builders and contractors, on residential and commercial projects alike.

Need railings made to measure?

Send a photo of the wall or staircase with your postcode and we'll take it from there.
